IMPORTANT: These instructions are ONLY if both Pan & Tilt are not working at the same time or you are getting "double zoom" on both sides of the screen.
Check 1: Make sure your App Version and Device Version are Up to Date
Our current app version is: 3.36.354, which can be found at the very top of the screen in all pages of the Sport Scope app:
If it's not up-to-date, learn how to UPDATE APP HERE.
Then make sure your device version is up to date from the Cameras page. Our current device version is: 3.16.830:
If you see that your Smart or Wireless device version on the Cameras page is not at the latest version, learn how to UPGRADE CAMERA HERE.
If your app and device versions are fully up to date and there is still no Pan/Tilt functionality, proceed to CHECK 2.
Check 2: Make sure the Video is Live (not frozen)
How can I tell if the video is frozen?
- Have something move in front of the camera and verify on the iPad if the object moves on the video with no or very minimal delay.
If the video is delayed or frozen then visit our "Smart Camera Lag" article for Smart Camera systems and "Wireless Camera Lag" article for Wireless Camera systems.
If video is not delayed then proceed to CHECK 3.
Check 3: Determine how the Pan/Tilt is Failing
Check if there is a virtual joystick on the screen for Pan and Tilt functionality (by default it should appear on the right side when your finger is touching the screen).
There is NOT a virtual joystick or Zoom icon is on both sides of screen:
If there's no virtual joystick or you have double zoom on the iPad, first check to see if there's power on the battery that the yellow motor cable is plugged into. See photo below:
If the battery appears dead (you can check by pressing the button on the side and seeing if the lights flash or if using our latest model see what the battery percentage is), then the battery will simply have to be charged in order to provide pan/tilt functionality.
If the battery IS charged, but the lights on the side won't stay lit (test it by pressing the button and waiting 10 seconds to see if they turn themselves off again) Reconfigure the cables into the temporary configuration shown in the photo below:
This should restore power to the motors for the rest of the game, but will cause some minor control delay.
If the system works in the above configuration then the long-term fix is to replace your current motor battery with our latest model, which can be purchased here: MOTOR BATTERY
Contact Support at 509-204-3270 in order to get corresponding velcro & stickers in the mail or to discuss other battery replacement options.
If the battery appears functional AND your app is up to date but there is still no virtual joystick icon on screen, try swapping the two USB cables on the bottom of the Wireless Head. They are interchangeable. See photo below:
You may need to re-plug all the power cords from the batteries after re-plugging in these cords. Set up the system from scratch again and the Pan and Tilt virtual joystick icon should appear on the iPad
If you do not see the virtual joysticks on the iPad after these steps when attempting to control the camera, call Sport Scope Support: 509-204-3270.
There IS a virtual joystick but BOTH Pan/Tilt Not Working:
First unplug and replug the yellow Motor Power Cable (1). It is the one with the Yellow tape on the end that plugs into the battery. See photos for reference:
Or:
Or:
After re-plugging back in the yellow motor cord, your system will temporarily change to Not Connected. Wait for the camera to come back online on it's own. This can take up to 30 seconds. Once it comes back online the pan and tilt should work again.
If you see the virtual joysticks on the iPad but BOTH the Pan and Tilt are still not working after these steps, call Sport Scope Support: 509-204-3270.
