Wireless Camera Setup:
Step 1. Take the Wireless Camera out of the hard case and mount it onto the tower.
If your system was purchased after May 2023, mount the Wireless Camera head by inserting it into the top hollow pole. Be sure to push all the way down. BOTH O-Rings should be fully inserted.
If your system was purchased before May 2023, mount the Wireless Camera head by screwing it 360 degrees on to the threaded screw in the top pole. Make sure you don't cross-thread it. Remember: righty tighty, lefty loosey.
Step 2. Plug the USB extender cable from the camera to the battery
Your handycam will come with a USB extension cable. Use this to connect the handycam to the external battery on the front of the Smart Head.
Step 3. Open the camera view finder to turn the camera ON.
Step 4. Connect the MicroHDMI Cable to the Camera and Wireless Head
You will take the small end of the HDMI cable and plug it into the Sony camera (1), on the same side as the viewfinder. The large end of the cable will plug into the blue box, into the port labeled "Camera In" (2). See photo below for reference.
Step 5. Connect the Power Cable for the Wireless Head
Plug the small end of the computer power cable to the Power port on the blue box (1), and the large end into the battery (2) (This is the black cable with the blue USB end)
Step 6. Connect the motor power cable to the motor battery
This is the cable with the yellow end. See below
Tip: Keep the Sony camera on the Wireless Camera at all times. There is also an L shaped cable that will be plugged in when you receive the camera. Keep this cable plugged in at all times as well.
Tip: Make sure the 2 USB cables next to the Ethernet port are plugged in. These cables should never be unplugged.
Important: The memory card is needed for the zoom to work when you are recording to the memory card. If the memory card gets full, the zoom will stop working. Be sure to empty the SD card between games if you are saving the recording to the camera to prevent this issue from happening.
Strain Relief and Ethernet Connection
Important: This step is mandatory. Failure to use the strain relief can damage the Ethernet port of the Wireless Camera and is not covered under warranty.
Step 1. Connect the carabiner to the strain relief hook
A carabiner is connected to the end of the 30’ blue Ethernet cable. Attach the carabiner to the hook located at the bottom right corner of the Wireless Head. See photo for reference.
Step 2. Connect the Ethernet Cable to the Wireless Head
Connect the Ethernet cable into the port labeled “Ethernet”. Make sure that there is a good arc on the Ethernet cable to ensure the weight of the cable is on the relief hook, and not on the Ethernet port, as shown below.
Strain Relief with Port Protection Plate
Step 1. Connect the key ring to the carabiner already attached to eyelet screw.
Step 2. Connect the Ethernet Cable to the Ethernet Adapter at bottom of Port Protection Plate
Make sure that there is a loop on the Ethernet cable to ensure the weight of the cable is on the relief hook, and not on the Ethernet port, as shown below.
Important: Do not tamper or remove the adapter cords connected from the plate to the ports in the blue camera head unless instructed to do so.
Wireless Network Setup
Step 1: Connect the Router power supply to the Router and Battery
Step 2: Switch on the battery to power the router
On your Router Battery there is a toggle switch to turn on the AC outlet port on it. Switch this into the "ON" position to give power to your router. This will provide power to the router. See the picture below:
Step 3: Plug the WiFi Antenna into the Router
Connect the black Ethernet cable from the WiFi antenna into the router port labeled “Antenna”. This port is marked with a black dot.
Step 4: Attach the Antenna to the Tower using the Provided Zip-Tie
Step 5: Connect the Blue Ethernet cable from the Wireless Camera to the Router
This will be the Ethernet cable we plugged into the blue Wireless Head earlier. Take it's other end and plug it into the port marked with the blue dot, as shown below.
Important: The filmer can be up to 100’ from the endzone tower. The antenna is directional so the face of the antenna must always be directed at the filmer.
Once this is complete, your Wireless Camera is ready to go! Connect your iPad to the network and start filming!
