IMPORTANT: These instructions apply if ONLY the tilt up and down is not working.
Check 1: Tighten the Tilt Motor Shaft Screw
In most cases, the reason the Pan/Tilt Head is no longer tilting is because the slot on the black side-wing with holes in it, which grips the tilt motor shaft, is not tight enough. There is a hex screw and a square nut that controls the tightness of the wing around the motor shaft.
First, try tightening this screw using a 3/16" Allen wrench by a 1/4 turn and then test the tilt function with the joystick:
If the tilt is still not working, move on to the next step.
Check 2: Listen to the motor
If you can hear the motor trying to turn:
If there is a motor sound then this means the motor shaft is rotating but the black side-wing is still is not sufficiently gripping. Tighten the hex screw another 1/4 turn and test again. If after several turns and the bottom tips of the side-wing are about to touch and the tilt is still not working then this could mean that the side-wing has been compromised. Call Sport Scope Support for assistance and possibly to replace the side-wing: 509-204-3270
If the motor is clicking:
If the motor is making a clicking sound when up or down is being held on the joystick then most likely the tilt motor is broken and will need to be replaced. Call Sport Scope Support: 509-204-3270
If no motor sound:
If there is no motor sound when up or down is being held on the joystick then check to make sure that the pan left or right is working fine. If one direction of the pan is working or if none of the directions are working then you may just need to replace the Four 9V batteries in the Joystick Box:
If still not working after replacing batteries call Sport Scope Support: 509-204-3270
