The System Info page is a great resource to identify potential issues related to devices on the network.
This is what the page will look like when you initially go to it.
By tapping "Scan" in the top right, it will begin scanning the network. It can take upwards of a minute, so be patient!
Once the scan is complete, you will see devices on the network. Issues detected will appear in red. If you see any red text, action is required to correct the issue.
Important Note: This page is a great tool, but just because nothing appears in red does not mean there aren't other network issues going on. It is only an indicator for some variables intended to identify more common issues.
This Device:
This is the information about the iPad the scan was done on. Pay attention to the free space, the Wi-Fi%, and the battery.
- (See the Connected Devices section below for more information about each of these categories)
Network Devices:
This section shows the antennas and other network equipment.
- The pressbox or wireless camera router will be displayed.
- Any antennas that an iPad can connect to will be displayed.
- Bridge antennas are not displayed.
The Network Devices section is good for confirming your antennas are operating but does not indicate if they have been placed in a good location or if any antennas have been angled correctly.
Cameras:
This section displays the camera angles on the network. These are the computers that control recording clips. It's important to make sure these devices have a good amount of free space on them to make sure their is room for your recordings and to keep the network from slowing down.
- Name: The name given to the device. This can be edited on the Cameras page.
- Model: The original Model Name of the device.
- Model #: Version number of the device computer.
- Space: The amount of free space on the iPad. At least 10GB is needed to store the recorded clips on the iPad
- If this fills up, you won't be able to record clips and the network may slow down
- If this is red, see How to Delete Games and Clearing space on your iPad for how to clear space
- Identifier: Unique address assigned to each device.
- We may ask for your identifiers for troubleshooting or license renewal purposes, but otherwise you can ignore this
- Version: The network equipment's version (aka hardware version)
- You want to make sure this is up to date.
- If red, update to the latest version.
- Information about the most current version and how to upgrade can be found here.
- License: The permissions your equipment currently has until its expiration date.
- Tap on the expiration date to see full license information.
- Replay and Cam Assist are paid services that must be renewed every season.
- If red, information on upgrading or renewing your replay license can be found here.
Connected Devices:
- Name: The name the device has been given
- Model: The type of device connected
- Note: iPhones (or any phones) are NOT supported and if one is connected to the system, it will cause major issues!
- Make sure your iPads are compatible with the system. Even if an old iPad technically works with the system it still may not be compatible and can cause major slow-down issues. Check the list!
- Space: The amount of free space on the iPad. At least 10GB is needed to store the recorded clips on the iPad
- If this fills up, you won't be able to download clips and the network may slow down
- If this is red, see: How to Delete Games and Clearing space on your iPad for how to clear space
- Wi-Fi %: VERY IMPORTANT - A value displaying how well the iPad is connected to its antenna.
- If this number drops too low, you will experience performance issues like lag, slow downloads, and other network problems, potentially for other devices on the network as well.
- We recommend 70% or above for all connected devices.
- If the Wi-Fi% is low or in red. Turn the iPad's Wi-Fi off, move the iPad closer to the appropriate antenna, then reconnect.
- SSID: The antenna network name the iPad is connected to.
- For Smart Camera or EDGE users, make sure iPads in the Pressbox are connected to the Pressbox Wi-Fi and iPads on the Sideline are connected to the Sideline Wi-Fi
- OS: The version of the Operating System of the iPad itself
- Make sure you are updated to version 14 or newer
- App: The current version of the Sport Scope App that is installed
- Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed on ALL iPads.
- If red, you can find information about the most recent version and how to update here.
- Make sure all iPads are on the same version of the app
- Battery: How much battery the iPad in question has.
- If red, the low power on the iPad can cause network issues. Disconnect and charge to at least 20% before reconnecting to Wi-Fi%.
- Make sure iPads are fully charged before games so that they don't die mid-game
- Streams: Shows what iPads are currently viewing a live video feed from a given camera angle.
- Only ONE iPad at maximum should be viewing a live feed and that is the control iPad.
- Additionally, only ONE camera angle should be putting out a live video feed
- If more than one iPad is viewing a livestream and/or multiple camera angles are showing a live feed, you WILL have significant issues with your network.
- In the picture above, two iPads are viewing a live feed of the endzone angle and this is a major problem.
- If needing to disable a live feed for one of the camera angles see: How to Use the Cameras Page.
- If needing to disable all live feeds on a particular iPad see: How to Use the Preferences Page.
